Perhaps it would be helpful to list all of his books:

So Loved ...

Though this first book does stand on its own, it is a part of a trilogy ...though you may need a bit of counseling before reading this next book, and maybe afterwards also. We all cope differently, and realities are different to each of us. I worked in a facility with troubled teens. Yes, there were many shocking things to me, but I had a solid upbringing (part of the reason it was shocking to me ...but I was trying to reach out to help those whom I was working with and it was not shocking to them). They'd gone through these things and worse, so it was very familiar to them. What wasn't familiar to them was a way out or a healthy way to cope ...yet, what I was writing about did not shock them as they could 'all too well' relate to it. Yes, it is an ugly truth which many of us prefer not to think about, and I'm quite certain most of them didn't want to think about it either ...but they were forced to live it. And I know I was mostly going to be just a forgotten chapter in their lives ...as temporary relief or a moment of stability could not impress upon them to the same degree as the things they dreaded and that they felt they knew were always present and would return without mercy. They felt the pain and memories would stay with them forever ...yet, I wanted them to have something that would stay with them forever also. Yes, that would be the love of God. And I felt that perhaps they would have a better chance to see it through their window. So, I wrote about their struggles (some horrible ones) ...yet, through the eyes of some characters who knew God.

Proceed with caution!!

Then I also highly recommend these two books written by the Assistant Pastor of the church I go to. These two books are for younger children, or perhaps to read to them (if they are very young) ---by Pastor Myron Gaul.

It could be said, especially of the next book's cover ...that it's too dark. But, a cemetery is dark at night. And the lightning draws our focus to the most comfortable aspect of this picture ....not that we should be scared of the dark, but find peace in the One who overcame these struggles in life.

And yes, that is Jesus.

(And if you can't quite make out the other things in the cover, perhaps it's because you are a bit older like me. A child can probably easily see it all ...and perhaps enjoy seeing it.)
